Duties
•Supervise subordinates
•Train new and relief staff
•Note down and give messages to people
•Receive, answer, and forward incoming calls
•Arrange for the installation and moving of telephones
•Check private calls and see to it that costs are recovered
•Assist with performance assessments/incentives of subordinates
•Record and maintain registers for security-related purposes
•Keep departmental telephone directory up to date with amendments
•Report all defects and ensure that repairs are done speedily
•Liaise with personnel division when recruiting telecom operators
•Ensure switchboard apparatus is handled properly to prevent interruptions
•Ensure switchboard is properly manned and relief arrangements are made
